It wasn't something that would happen often, but there were times when it did happen.

Neither of them said a thing about it later, not even between themselves. It was a untold rule that they shouldn't mention it.

Poland would at times appear out of nowhere to find Prussia sitting--usually in his bedroom, but sometimes he did it in other places too--approach him and, without a word, sit on the other's lap and curl himself into a ball, deliberately making him a cushion.

The first time was just after the Hungarian Uprising of 1956 started. Poland was visibly worried sick for Erzsi, and it was beyond obvious. Prussia wouldn't admit, but he was worried too, like other nations were. She was standing up against Russia, and without support there wasn't much hope--no matter how courageous her actions were.

No need to mention quite a few people in Russia's house managed to sleep. The fact Lithuania and Poland's relationship was still a bit tense also prompted him to appear in Prussia's room a bit after midnight. Both were really tired, enough for Prussia to only murmur a "Huh?", as he didn't have the usual energy to argue with him.

Poland didn't respond, but only walked up to Prussia's bed, where the other was trying (and failing) to read a book. He climbed on it and sat down on Prussia. The other was surprised, as you could expect him to be. He put his book by his side and tried to take a look at the blonde, but noticing the book and his arms away, Poland just leaned over Prussia, still as silent as when he came.

Blushing--it was simply too easy for him with his pale skin--he looked at Poland, and upon thinking it over, he sighed and shrugged it off. He knew why the Pole was like that, seeing that not even he was managing to fall asleep, and the blonde was so very close to Eli... After a few minutes, he mindlessly wrapped his arms around the Pole, the warmth of the other managing to calm him, as well as help him a lot through the damn Russian weather.

It didn't take much longer for him to fall asleep. It was a surprisingly peaceful sleep--perhaps the most calming one he had in years--but as he woke up, the blonde was nowhere to be seen.

He knew it wasn't a dream, though. Who else would forget a pink hair clip in his bed like that?

It was usually harder for Prussia to be nice to Poland, unlike the opposite. It happened, though, usually when Poland couldn't bring himself to make fun of him. Even if he did, at those times Prussia didn't care. In one of these days--albeit looking fine externally--his face sent off a miserable sensation.

He found Poland just where he expected him to be--hiding between the shelves of the huge library in Russia's house. Just as he found him, Poland looked up from his book and frowned lightly. "Co?" he questioned. Not much afterwards he noticed Prussia looked mentally beaten up. Huh... What did he get himself into?

Without a word he walked up to Poland, sat by his side, and pulled him into a hug. Poland, totally taken by surprise (even if he could predicted it), let out a gasp. "Hej, hej hej hej!" He started to protest, but as Prussia's grip tightened, he thought for a bit and sighed. Well, he guessed he could let him use himself as a plush toy for a bit. If he wanted to be honest with himself, he would let it go as 'his turn to be the other's mental support for a second'. But as he didn't want to be honest, he didn't think of it like that.

Poland moved a bit to adjust himself to Prussia's grip, and resumed reading his book. It didn't take long for Prussia to bury his face in the other's hair.

It could have been cute, if the circumstances were others. Since it wasn't, Poland simply gave him a pat on the arm.

Poland/Prussia (the order has no real meaning)
Cold War Setting

I decided to spit my headcanons into drabbles because the world doesn’t have enough PolPrus/PrusPol I swear to god

Brief mention of BrOTP Poland and Hungary (FTW!)

SHOUT OUT FOR THIS CUTIE THAT HELPED MY ENGLISH MISTAKES YEAAAAH

------------

Author's notes (for after reading): Poland’s simply saying “What?” and “Hey, hey hey hey!” but just to be safe I decided to add this here. I… can’t resist adding the few broken Polish I know into fanfics with Poland sorry.

Erzsi is short for Erzsébet, which is Hungarian for Elizabeth. I think Poland would call her that, maybe the Polish variation as well, since they’re so close. Gilbert can’t say shit in Hungarian for his fuckin’ life so he sticks with the German/English version of it, which is why her nickname appears in both these versions.

I think Gilbert is rarely honest with anything at all (that involves his feelings and stuff like that), but he has an exception for Ludwig. So, think of the second part set up just after the construction of Berlin Wall in 1961. Feliks probably hasn’t heard of it yet, and Gilbet doesn’t want to talk about it.

I’m here sighing and groaning ‘THOSE TWO IDIOTS’ because they’re obviously needing for support but their way of gettin’ it is instead of TALKING LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE they just fling themselves at each other with all the butthurt and pride and ANGST unresolved for another set of decades. SIGH. Overly grown kids.
